AWARENESS

So this month in NY is the AIDS Walk celebrating 25 years of thousands and thousands of people coming together, for a cause that is a number one concern amongst Americans in the USA. As of August 2009, 1.1 million people across the United States were diagnosed with the virus. In 2007, nearly three quarters of adolescents and adults were males, mostly man on man. The largest age group is 40-49. The population across is 51% for African Americans, 18% Hispanic. These are just figures; not actual take of how our city looks, and the scary part is this virus is not detected so easily. Sex is a natural thing, more and more young adults are having sex at a faster pace. Being a mother of young children, I too am concerned about how can I protect mine from this disease that has engulfed our nation. First is education, as best as you could I think communication is the key to any relationship, especially with your children. So take the step to explain how important this is. As I have walked in the AIDS walk before, unfortunately this year I'm unable to, register to walk, donate, or better yet educate those young and not as educated as maybe you are in this subject. Just one person can make a difference. As being a daughter of someone who contracted the virus through intravenous usage, 20 years ago and is still standing, I support this movement. December 1, 2010 marks Aids Day.
